Question by Josh: What do all the different colored shirts in “Star Trek” meen?
I just watched the 2009 “Star Trek” movie and was wondering what the diffrent colors of there shirts meen.

in the original series and the new movie Gold was for command officers. Blue was for Science officers and medical. Red was for security and engineering.
in the Next Generation era Red was for Command. Blue was the same and Gold was for engineering and security.

Gold is command staff.
Blue is Science and Medical.
Red is Ship Services which includes Security and engineering.
Spock is First Officer, but wears the blue of his role of Science Officer, the role he finds more important.
