This song is so catchy and happy, I smile every time I hear it. At this writing, I’ve listened to this theme 5 or 6 times in a row. It brings me good memories about how tv used to be good. That’s why I love the classic tv theme songs. They remind me of an era when everyone could watch whatever was on tv, day or night, and not have to worry about children being exposed to what is basically pornography now – even in the commercials.
I have a collection of 5 cd’s worth [80 minutes each] of tv theme songs.
Back in the day, the theme song MADE the show. There was a real punch to that music that you don’t find now. After the 80′s ended, they just quit making good tv theme songs. This music takes me back to when the tv theme song was just as crucial to the program as the show itself, when they really tried and made an effort.
My wife thinks I am an idiot when I get up and dance all over the room to this music. But I grew up watching this tv show as a child. I was glued, and I mean G – L – U – E – D, to the tv watching Tic Tac Dough.
I don’t know if it was Wink’s ability as the host, or the dragon, or the trivia or what, but something about that show made it my favorite game show ever.
See and I thought I was the only person who dug the game show themes….they dont make them like these anymore…these bring back memories….GSN should show the classics more…either that or get the rights to re-do these games cause except for Lingo most of the games suck
There is a link to a price – is – right page with about every clip ever used on the show. I’ve wasted umpteen hours listening to all this stuff – what a blast.
This JW closing is right up there at the top on my list. Did Score Productions / Kalehoff create this? He seems like he did just about everything else in the 70′s and beyond game-show wise.
Man I miss those days as a kid with all the great game shows: Tic Tac Dough, Bumper Stumpers, Hot Potato, Sale of the Century, Scrabble and so many others. Makes the newer remakes of things like Pyramid and Family Feud look like total crap.
Talk about a classic – game shows nowadays just don’t hold water compared to how they used to be. Networks prefer to have reality TV and have lost touch with game shows that actually make you think.
I always loved the “soul claps” in this masterpiece of a theme song. Loved the show, too. Wink Martindale is a Mid-South homeboy from Jackson, TN and later worked at WHBQ in Memphis as a Memphis State student.
From 0:48 to 1:00 sounds a little bit like Tekken’s 1 & 2 music. Supposedly Tekken sampled their music from this part of the Tic Tac Dough theme.

best game show theme besides Price is Right!!
Ever summer in the 80′s, I never miss Tic Tac Dough as a kid to my teen. Until, they show reruns on USA network in the late 80s to 1991!

@oskib24
They do reality television because it costs almost nothing and it’s tough enough to make money in media as it is.
Now I feel like watching Tic Tac Dough.
This song is additive like crack. And has the same long term effect on Your mental health.
this song makes me want to wear the fart mask

Very…Riverdance-y. Cool, though, and catchy.
