NOT Spanish Flea. I wikipedia’d it. The 1965 Dating Game theme song was written and performed by Chet Baker and the Mariachi Brass (A Herb Alpert cover band, so to speak) The show’s producers did use a number of Herb Alpert’s popular hits as musical cues. I believe Spanish Flea was played when the announcer described the fabulous location of the winning bachelor or bachelorette’s date. Herb Alpert’s “Roses and Lollipops” was the musical cue during the contestant’s bio.

I actually think the theme song was “Whipped Cream,” also by Herb Alpert. Although that tune might have been played only when the set was spinning to reveal the players.
there were at least 3 different themes used during the 60′s..
Spanish Flea was one,
but this is an earlier Chuck Barris composition based on the south of the border sound that Herb Albert really popularized i believe..
My music playlists for each of the last 100 years even include this stuff !!! Take a trip to the past, 4 generatuions of pop music at your fingertips . . . . . . . . .
This is a later studio version from the post Chuck Barris days of involvement. The true original theme was written by Chuck Barris and was performed by The Mariachi Brass (featuring Chet Baker) in 1966. That version was never equaled. Herb Alpert’s music was never used for an opening or closing theme on Chuck Barris’ shows. Only during intros and outros. The theme was later re-recorded in 1972 and used in later tapings. A studio band recorded all of Chuck’s original music for his game shows.
No, they’d play this as bumper music WITHIN the show; it’s NOT the theme.
I don’t have to consult wikipedia. ‘Tain’t “Spanish Flea.”
TIME TO NAME THAT POST

There is a newer version of this theme, kinda mix of it, much better…
Anyone know it?
I liked the end of the show when they all come out and dance and then turn around and blow kisses to the audience. Timeless.
It was used as “the Bachelor’s theme” in the show.
Actually it’s called “Spanish Flea” Herb Alpert. I think it was the theme at one point, I’m not sure though.
NO….thought it was called ‘spanish fly’….
