I could see Paul Lynde (really him), Michael Landon, or Jan Murray asking Bert Parks, “How come we boys have to sit down here while those girls get to sit up there?” Look at the set and you’ll see what I mean

  2. WarioBarker88 says:

21:00 — …did Jan Murray just admit this is a pilot?!

  3. NOWhammies91983 says:

Music for this pilot was provided by Arlo, the same band(?) that provided music for Celebrity Game when it went to series, as well as PDQ.

  4. fromthesidelines says:

    It probably was, ‘byrd’.

  5. pewmanfustudios says:

That was pretty funny. There was another game show that never aired in the 70s called Cop Out that was kind of similar to this, but much lamer.

  6. byrd56 says:

The end title [closing] theme music for this “Celebrity Game” pilot sounded like it resurfaced a year or so later on another Heatter-Quigley production–”Namedroppers”, with Al Lohman & Roger Barkley, on NBC.

  7. fromthesidelines says:

This was an unaired pilot for a proposed 1968 revival of the game, as CBS was interested in having Heatter-Quigley produce an updated version (with fewer celebrities than the original). Bert Parks was the emcee here; I suspect that HAD it been sold to the network, another host would have been chosen. This is a color kinescope of the original videotape…which probably doesn’t exist.

I’ve read of how this short-lived game show started out in April of 1964 on CBS with Carl Reiner as emcee, but this is the first I’ve seen where Bert Parks figures into the program.. Is this near the end of the run, where Reiner apparently left at some point?
