First, a plug for Zenith, then Emery (Out of business?), and Miller, followed by an early start to the CBS Share the Spirit campaign, then the close (Note, Magnum and Simon and Simon swapped timeslots and apparently were both on Tuesdays at this time). After the close is a promo fo West 57th and Twilight Zone, and a plug for TGI Fridays!

Simon & Simon had a crossover with Magnum, PI, on the Magnum double episode “Ki’s Do not Lie” and in the Simon & Simon episode “Emeralds Are Not a Girl’s Very best Friend” (each in 1982). In ‘Ki’is Don’t Lie’ Magnums professional services are donated to Catherine (Morgan Fairchild), an appealing socialite. Magnum is supposed to safeguard a valuable art collection that is due to be auctioned off. Meanwhile two detectives from the mainland, brothers AJ (Jameson Parker) and Rick Simon (Gerald McRaney) have been hired by the previous owner of a certain Hawaiian artifact. The second portion of this story was presented in the second season opener for Simon & Simon in an episode named Emeralds Are Not a Girl’s Ideal Friend. In this scene The Simons are about to steal the Ki’i statue from Higgins… Subtitles are Dutch.

Rick was a Vietnam United States Marine Corps veteran and had much more street sense, while AJ went to college and had book smarts. Rick preferred things that were viewed by his brother as lower-class, like pickup trucks (Rick’s Dodge Power Wagon is notable for its dull paint and large metal bumper used in one episode to crush the engine of a car), while AJ took care of his money and could afford to be more fashionable (AJ often drove a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air convertible, and later, a Chevrolet Camaro Z28).
