Jackie Gleason: the Abdominal Comedian

If you are a classic TV show fan, you won’t ever forget Jackie Gleason in your list of popular actors of Classic TV. He is known for his works as a comic for tv such as The Honeymooners, The Jackie Gleason Show and Izzy and Moe. He also resort his career to composing music as he recorded Melancholy Serenade”, “Glamour”, “Lover’s Rhapsody”, “On the Beach” and “To a Sleeping Beauty” all for Capitol Records. His talent for entertaining people is remarkable for a fact that he once worked as a carnival barker and disc jockey before joined Tinseltown’s bandwagon.

He immortalized the characters of Ralph Kramden, Chester A. Riley and among others. Despite his status as a actor, he never won an Emmy award in his entire career but he became a recipient of the coveted Star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame. He also did drama when he appeared in The Hustler where he portrayed Minnesota Fats and earned a nod in Academy for Supporting Actor. No wonder his contributions in American television is remarkable as he is a gold in the mine of Hollywood.

Frank Fontaine as the much loved Crazy Guggenheim on The Jackie Gleason Show from 1962. As a kid, it was my favorite part of the show.
