The usually quiet town of Hope is under the glare of a North American media spotlight, but it’s not the story anyone in the community of Hope expected. The discovery of the body of Ryan Jenkins in a motel has brought out Canadian and American media. Outside the Thunderbird Motel, the flashing neon sign reads “No Vacancy” and the driveway is backed up with satellite trucks and camera crews, including the main Canadian TV networks, and U.S. heavyweights like ABC which have been following this story since it started in Los Angeles with the murder of Jasmine Fiore. The Thunderbird Motel is on a very rural road, and if one were on the run, they might stand out here, rather than blend in. Truckers passing through Hope tell us they have had an ear on the story. “We talked a little bit about the guy and we hoped they’d catch the guy. We didn’t want him running around Canada.”

How did Claire Labine and Paul Avila Mayer come up with the title “Ryan’s Hope”?

Question by tbell1826: How did Claire Labine and Paul Avila Mayer come up with the title “Ryan’s Hope”?

One more and I gotta go!! Really…

“In late 1974, ABC Daytime approached Claire Labine and Paul Avila Mayer, who were the Head Writers of CBS’ Love of Life at the time, about creating a new soap opera. The network wanted a series similar to General Hospital. The proposed title of the new serial was City Hospital. Labine and Mayer added a large Irish family to ABC’s vision of the show — the Ryan family. RH was created, owned, and originally written by Labine and Avila Mayer, who had previously written Where The Heart Is and Love of Life.”

May I suggest wikipedia or soap central for any more little known facts about soaps? Just a suggestion…not saying that if you ask I won’t answer…but just a suggestion!
