Lucy and Desi were also divorcing right after a long tumultuous marriage. They nonetheless loved every other quite considerably, but the issues that plagued the marriage couldn’t preserve them together. However, they remained buddies even after they married other people, and when Desi died, Lucy was devastated. So in a sense, this song was meaningful for them both.
