loooove Soul Train. Watched it as an immigrant kid (from South Asia), and thought it was the coolest thing I’ve ever seen.
this was when a degree of intelligence and smarts was accepted in black communities and unnecessary profanity wasnt such a large part of our everyday conversations. Also this was when dancing was simply about having fun and just moving your body
Me & my friends do this in school…. we wanna keep all of memories from 8th grade so we do soul train in gym
Learning the latest dance as a kid as we watched Souuul Traaaaiiinn! Don Cornelius was a funky mofo and looking at Spike Lee’s Crookly reminds me of my family when we were kids waiting for Saturday so that we could learn the latest dance moves and then try to out dance each other. Sweet soul music. But now we are plastic
