Thanks to CC Music, we have another Jackie Gleason album expertly transferred to CD.

If there was EVER a better version of “Stella by Starlight” — I’ve yet to hear it. Those crying violins, the haunting strings all make for the best version of this song. Not to mention that great horn!!

The reason I think this is the most romantic Gleason album is because of the unusual content. Most of the songs are not familiar, and even the ones that are, Gleason takes to a new level. You are likely to be completely enveloped in the sound, and not be humming along.

The other songs are tremendous as well. This CD includes a never-released track, along with a single never issued on LP. In fact, there are five bonus tracks, but the original LP is one to cherish. Beautiful, hypnotic arrangements, and great remastering are standouts as well. As with other Gleason albums, this is a must have. This is some of the best instrumental, romantic music you will ever hear. Highly recommended.

Comedian and actor Jackie Gleason was one of the most talented entertainers of the 20th century. His series of recordings with string orchestra accompanying beautiful trumpet/cornet solos by the great Bobby Hackett set a new standard for lush romantic music. Gleason and Hackett’s first such album, Music for Lovers Only, was a mega hit and still sells well even in the modern rock era. Music to Remember her follows its style smoothly and well. You’ll never hear better performances of many of these songs than here, especially the gorgeous performance of Stella by Starlight. If you’re a romantic in these unromantic times you’ll probably love this album.

I can remember my parents listening to this music when I was growing up and I had to order the cd. It is music for the memory. Soothing, haunting and definitly relaxing. It makes great backround listening. Many of my friends are surprised when the learn the Jackie Gleason had an orchestra. I also ordered Tawny/Music,Martinis and Memories, another great cd. You must try at least one of the two, you will be greatly satisfied.
