McMillan & Wife (also known as McMillian) is a lighthearted American crime drama series that aired on NBC from September 17, 1971 to April 24, 1977. The series premiered in the fall of 1971 in 90-minute episodes as component of the wheel series NBC Mystery Movie, in rotation with Columbo and McCloud. Initially airing on Wednesday night, the original line-up was shifted to Sundays in the second season, where it aired for the rest of its run.
Video Rating: five / five
@edwardjames50 REally? Are you sure? Well, just shows what great actors they were–you never knew any ‘feuds’ in their clinch scenes!!
Elegant sexy theme music! One of my all time favorite shows–glued to the tv every third Sunday night. Elegant, fun couple–a ‘cop’ show with a wry sense of humor (unheard of now)–as if Nick and Nora Charles had ‘worked the beat’ so to speak. Susan is ditzy/funny divine (also loved her in Kate and Alley & —anything else). Her exasperated (yet always loving) ‘husband’ Rock looks even sexier with that 70′s shaggy mustache and mop of dark hair. Anybody know if this show is out on DVD?
I had a crush on Susan, too…
This show was part of a rotating series along with Columbo and McCloud on NBC. There was also a 4th entry which never really panned out. There were several different shows which the network put in that 4th slot, most notably Hec Ramsey, a western show which was absolutely awful.
@sexymama1966 sure was. Movie was a 1970′s version of the classic “Thin Man” movies of way back when.
gosh i missed the great tv shows.they could be funny without being vulgur, they could be scarey without the gore. the only thing i dont miss the eveing news after this great tv show.
RIP Rock Hudson he was such a Hunk and a great actor. You will be missed Rock!
The thing I remember most about this pilot was the bicycle chase. For someone whose name isn’t familiar to me, Paul Mason seemed like a good producer; he also produced some of the later “It Takes a Thief” episodes.
Susan Saint James was freakin HOT back then…I can’t keep my eyes off her in this intro.
Always loved this intro. It just gives you a cozy relaxing feeling.
these were the times when we in Pakistan had tons of respect for the USA
Classic! I loved this series. I always found their dynamics so dated – she the dutiful, submissive wife, he the pants-wearing man’s-man. But, those were the times!
The more tv shows are made the more insignificant they get, (like in, what will a good tv show of today be worth after another 500 years of tv making). tv don’t have another 500 years i think, but if it would.
@Keon2006 this was a pilot episode/movie
This is when television was GOOD….Today it’s HORSESHIT!!!
DAMN, Rock Hudson looked fine as hell on McMillan and Wife. Loved the porn mustache.
Gosh tv shows when I a kid were so tame. It makes you forget the news about watergate to viet-nam.
Always loved this show! Also remember watching “this one” here with Johnathan Harris from Lost in space! ONCE UPON A DEAD MAN! Thanks for posting this!
Does anyone know why they showed the closing credits in the beginning of the show LOL.
in 1975 i was 11 years old and fall in love with susan saint james she was so sexy
YES but no offense but the jews want more income so they cut themes
I thought Rock Hudson was so cool…
Good sample for a beat.
It was a 70′s show, I bethinks it was an attempt to show Americans, other than my JROTC skank is an officer with a smelly fell.
@edwardjames50 can you tell me what happened i never could find out why they despised each other
