Here’s a clip from 1984 I believe of Lucille Ball on The Tonight Show with Joan Rivers. it is such an effortless and warm interview. You can tell both females have a mutual respect and admiration for each other. And, being a lucy nerd lol I listened carefully at the end of the video, while Lucy was leaving, and the heartfelt exchange between Lucy and Joan is just so nice to hear “Love ya Honey” “Have a merry a christmas, and pleased anniversary! ” “Thank you, God Bless as always” 2 Legends make on good clip! dedicated to Lucy-Joan and the punchy players lol

I’m with u guys— “Lucy & Joan” are T.V. GOLD- Joan (& the audience) idolized Lucille Ball so much, these interviews amount to “Hero- Worship”! Evidently , that relaxes Lucy, and she’s delightful!! Ms. Lucille Ball, Pat P. (in MO.) just wants to FINALLY, formally say “Thank U ” for taking my “BLUES” away, & making me LOL– even on a night like THIS- w/ a TORNADO, STORMING at my window! Miss u– but SO GLAD U R cracking up our Lost Loved ones in Heaven tonight!
It’s hilarious to see Lucy mimic Joan’s usual handclapping.
I remember seeing this when it came on back then. I’d like to see a clip of Lucy on the Joan Rivers show. She was crying because her show Life with Lucy got cancelled. This was right before Desi’s death.
I’m not as shocked as everyone else by the sudden death of Lucille Ball. The depth of her voice in this video tells it all, really. I barely remember when Lucy was alive (I was born in 86), but she’s been a big part of my life since birth. She was (and remains) one of the best female comedians and actresses of all time. RIP Lucy and Desi! We love you!
7:04..what a stupid question…asking someone how long they want to live….
This was very genuine, warm and gave me a few good beaming chuckles!
How much fun is this making video’s .. When you have time come visit my channel!

@kymarcin Good question- I don’t think so though. This was before her last show Life With Lucy, which she was very excited about. I think she felt very alive and very happy around this time, especially concerning her family and the world’s appreciation for her career. I’ve never known Lucy to be really focused on death and life “at the end” she was too busy trying to stay busy.
@ZachChanning Yea, it’s such an easy and warm interview. You can tell both women have a respect and admiration for each other. And, being a lucy nerd lol I listened carefully at the end of the video, while Lucy was leaving, and the heartfelt exchange between Lucy and Joan is just so nice to hear “Love ya Honey” “Have a merry a christmas, and happy anniversary! ” “Thank you, God Bless as always”
@sbmsalz2 I SO AGREE.:)
I LOVE how at the very, very end as the video fades out you hear Joan say “That’s a Legend!’ – Joan has class for knowing how to treat Lucy!
@stevedalepetworld1 Don’t you think she realized her health was declining already at this point? She lived only 5 years after this was recorded.
Joan rivers documentary is pretty good. Check it out.
@love4myclarks7 This is rare footage you got! Yes do add more! Lookin 4wrd to see more of Lucy uploads.
@sbmsalz2 IM SO GLAD SOMEONE NOTICES THIS! I first thought, for YEARS, that she was just showing some appreciation but after seeing a lot of recent Joan Rivers entrances and seeing her applaud the audience, and her “hard” walk, I noticed Lucy was doing the same, Not to mention she says “I was tryina walk like you” at 0:54 lol Good eye! I love seeing small details like that
Thank you so much for sharing, this is great! I love how Lucy goes out towards the audience at the beginning and does a ‘Joan Rivers’ impression with the clapping. What a tribute to Joan to have Lucille Ball doing an impression of her. Lucy was a big supporter of Joan’s (even going on her solo show in 1986) and you can tell she’s more comfortable with Joan than with Johnny Carson. Lucy is really enjoying herself here and it’s great to see. Thanks again! Any more interviews with Lucy?
@rachelazw RIGHT! Something tells me she kinda knew the numbers, which is why she may have said “30 something” lol
@illnsp08 ur welcome
Hope to add more soon.
God Bless Lucille Ball, she was a true gift from God. Joan Rivers is amazing as well. What a clip!
Thk you for uploadin the interview!! I havent seen it, only the audio of this interview on the Lucy-Desi home movies.
If she did stick around another 25 years, should would have made it to 2009! Little did we expect to lose her so suddenly only 5 years later. Thank you so much for sharing this rare interview.
