    Without Dean Martin, we wouldn’t know from Jerry Lewis. What a class act, as were all on this show. Modern day entertainers are pathetic compared to these REAL stars. Thank you for this and your other videos.

    I understand why you think he’s really drunk, but he’s not. Do some reading on Dean – it was a great act. A very well polished act. I excuse your ignorance (youn being 24) of what real entertainers were like, well before you were born.

    As for your attack on someone who states facts – well, your ignorance shows through clearly.

    Pwn’d.

    @searcherboy

    he is drunk..you are blind…drunk..but thats ok..and he could be spot on and drunk unlike your mother when shes sucking on my F#ck stick my little nigga

  6. searcherboy says:

    @ChiroQuacker No, you can see his timing is spot-on. He doesn’t slur his words either. He’s sober.

  7. searcherboy says:

    At the time this was shot, Dean Martin was the biggest individual shareholder in RCA, which owned NBC. His show was one of the biggest hits on the network in late 60s. One year Dean’s contract came up for renewal and NBC paid him with a block of stock rather than cash. Dean became one of the wealthiest people in the entertainment business as a fortune as a result of this deal and other investments. Behind his drunk act, he was a very shrewd fellow.

    dean is fucked up here..no act…booze sucks..its a killer…

    its a myth that he always had booze in his glass or cup, it was apple juice. he was a hell of an actor. they all knew what his shtick was.

    @fernmann7

    I agree – from everything I have read, it was all an act. Dean absolutely LOVED Foster Brooks drunk act too!

  13. fernmann7 says:

    @cinzialucia At home, he liked to have a glass of wine with his steak, but other than that, it was all an act. That’s Martinelli’s apple juice in that glass in this segment. But look how Carson and Hope play along.

    I’ve read and heard dean really wasn’t a boozer!! He had moments but was a real homebody. His wIfe was everything to him. I must say this must be one of those rare moments huh??? For all you Dean fans what is your understanding of his relationship with the bottle?????

    @filthyfunke With a more diverse comedy scene and a further distance between crap and brilliance than ever, I hope you realized what an ignorant statement that is, shortly after you wrote it? It’s impossible not to like some contemporary comics if these guys make you laugh. It’s impossible. But Bob Hope is the king, and will remains so for generations of comedians to come. Only not the crappy ones probably. By the way, with a nickname like filthyfunke, aren’t you contradicting yourself?

    In playing along with the joke that Dean Martin is actually George Gobel, I could see Johnny saying, “I hope you can forgive me for asking this, George, but how in the world were you able to get plastic surgery so fast?” All the while he’s asking that, Dean is drinking away. He finally puts the cup down as soon as Johnny’s finished asking the question and says, “What?”

  19. MrsCrooner says:

    Lol. The women were screaming their hearts out when they saw Dean :D .

  20. strat63 says:

    Johnny was king of the and ruled with an iron fist.
    Joan Rivers and Arsenio Hall had shows in Johnny’s time slot and Joan lasted 3 shows and on her last show she begged Johnny on air but she was done.
    Arsenio was doing his show and someone yelled somehing from the audience and Hall went,”What?” “This ain’t Johnny, we address things on this show,” and he was gone too.
    I was in college in the late 60′s and where ever I was I always looked for Johnny.
    It was like having a friend with you.
